COMICS THAT MADE ME LOVE COMICS #3 Wonder Woman TIME PASSAGES

Preview

Synopsis -“With Julia as her interpreter, Wonder Woman makes her first United Nations appearance. Though she tries her best to share the Themysciran message of love and peace, many third-world delegates scorn her merely for being a woman; worse, the Soviet delegates accuse her of being an American propagandist.”

This book was soooo dope! Not only was it drawn by the late great George Perez RIP but look at that cover price…40p!!. Meaning you could grab every title you wanted for a fiver and still have money left over for a McDees Cheeseburger. I digress.

What I loved most about this issue was the balls to have most of it handwritten. It’s a pretty concentrating read with the story being seen through the eyes of the 3 main women in Diana’s life. Her Men’s World mentor Professor Julia Kapatelis, Lt. Etta Candy and Julia’s teenage daughter Vanessa.

It delves into Diana’s beliefs, her fears and what the world thinks about her, cause you know, her very existence fucks up a lot of people’s religious beliefs and that had never been covered before.

I especially loved the page which hints on her crushing on Superman. This was cute!

Time Passages inspired a different way of thinking in the comic medium. That you could go outside of the traditional panel and speech bubbles and tell a story in a fresh way.

Highly recommended!
